There is no doubt that technology is forcing its way into the classroom. We see more and more smartboards and uses for ipods than we've ever seen before. As I think about how I can use advances in technology in my classroom, many things come to mind. Smartboards--although I've never taught a lesson on one--are a way to get kids actively involved in the lesson. Smartboards give children the opportunity to get up out of their seats and become an actual part of the lesson. Also, ipods can be used to listen to books through headphones, or can even be used for children with special needs who must work alone. Instead of refusing to accept these new advances in technology, we should embrace them and use them to help out our students.

smartboards
The kinds of technology that are being used in education today are a lot different than the kinds that teachers used to use in the classroom. The first bit of technology that comes to mind that is being used in todays classrooms today is smartboards. I have seen smartboards ever since I started doing field at Malone. I'm not sure how long smartboards have been around, but I know we never had them back when I was in elementary school. I think they are a great idea because younger students get excited to use them. I have only seen great things come from the usage of smartboards, and I am looking forward to the types of technological advances that I will see in the future as I teach in the classroom.
